Cowell Backed In To Be X Factor Winner
Thursday 21 August 2008 at 09:00
Simon Cowell has been heavily backed at the bookmakers to be the winning manager in this year's X Factor competition.
William Hill installed new manager Cheryl Cole as the favourite last week, but has now revised its odds following a spate of wagers on the show's founder.
"Cowell is a phenomenon in his own right, I have to agree with punters and will not be betting against Cowell," said Rupert Adams, spokesman for the betting shop.
Coral offers the best price on victory for the record producer at 15/8, while Danii Minogue is now the second favourite at 11/4 with William Hill.
Odds of 3/1 are available on early betting frontrunner Cole at Coral, while long-standing judge Louis Walsh is 9/2 at Paddy Power and Stan James.
In other X Factor manager markets, Paddy Power offers 11/8 that Walsh is the first manager to be eliminated, ahead of 5/2 Minogue, 3/1 Cole and 4/1 Cowell.
England is 1/5 to produce the winning nationality at Paddy Power, while SkyBet offers the same odds on the eventual champion being Christmas number one this year.
