Jamaica Odds On To Win Olympics Mens 4 X 100m Relay
Monday 18 August 2008 at 09:09
Jamaica are widely expected to win the Olympics men's 4 x 100m relay competition following Usain Bolt's dominance of the individual event over the weekend.
Bolt appeared to still have plenty left in the tank as he broke the world record in Saturday's final, finishing several metres ahead of the rest of the field.
And such a performance could be on the cards again, according to the odds, with Jamaica priced at 1/2 to take gold with Boylesports.
As well as Bolt, the country will likely be represented by former world record holder Asafa Powell and Michael Frater, who finished fifth and sixth respectively in the individual competition.
The USA, who are 5/2 for victory at Ladbrokes, will have two Olympic finalists in their squad in the form of bronze medallist Walter Dix and Darvis Patton.
It is not yet known whether world champion Tyson Gay, who appeared to not be fully fit as he was eliminated in the semi-finals, will take part.
Trinidad & Tobago are the third favourites at 10/1 with Bet 365, with Great Britain the next best-backed nation at 40/1 with the same bookmaker.
