Punters Look Set For Summer Olympics 2008 Windfall

Punters look on course for a big win later this month if Great Britain and Northern Ireland's squad for the summer Olympics 2008 continue to perform as well as they have been.
William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams suggested that most of the bets his company had taken were geared towards Team GB putting in a good performance - and with two golds, two silvers and three bronzes already in the bag, the country appears on track to reach its medal targets.
"Team GB are outperforming our original expectations and unfortunately the majority of our punters also expected team GB to do well," commented Mr Adams.
William Hill cut the odds on the team returning to the UK with 12 or more golds in tow from 5/6 to 2/5, with Gail Emms and Nathan Robertson's victory in the first round of the badminton competition given as one of the reasons why.
The duo are now 2/1 favourites to win the mixed doubles event outright at Coral, as they look to go one better than the silver medal they achieved in Athens.
