Ground Affects Dariaks Chances In Galway Hurdle
Thursday 31 July 2008 at 09:07
The weather conditions in Ireland are going to make it difficult for Dariak to win today's Galway Hurdle, his jockey has suggested.
Tom Foley told the Press Association (PA) that his team were hoping the ground would be good at the racecourse, but the latest predictions do not appear promising.
"If it was fine from now until the race we'd be OK but the forecast is bad.
"We wouldn't want any more rain but we'll run him and if it got really wet he might just travel through it."
Following his comments, Dariak is 25/1 to win the race at Paddy Power.
Majestic Concorde and Northern Alliance are the joint-favourites at 6/1 with Ladbrokes and SkyBet respectively, despite the former taking part in the GPT Handicap on Monday.
Trainer Dermot Weld told the PA his horse looks to have recovered well from the race, suggesting he is on course to do the double, which would be worth a further 50,000 euros in prize money.
Weld's other mount, Bobs Pride, is 20/1 to come out on top at Ladbrokes.
