Duke Odds On To Win King George VI And QE Stakes
Friday 25 July 2008 at 09:01
With just one day to go until the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot, Duke of Marmalade remains the odds on favourite to give Aidan O'Brien his 14th Group One victory of the year.
The thoroughbred, who has won his last three consecutive Group One races, is also bidding to give O'Brien his third win in the King George, following on from Dylan Thomas in 2007 and Galileo in 2001.
Coral offers odds of 10/11 on another triumph for the Ballydoyle stable, with Youmzain the next best backed mount at 10/3 with Paddy Power.
Youmzain defeated another of O'Brien's star horses Soldier of Fortune in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud earlier this year.
Lucarno is the only other Group One winner in the race, having won the St Leger in 2007.
He was priced as high as 16/1 last week, but has been backed in to 9/1 at Blue Square.
Papal Bull, another O'Brien ride, is 10/1 at Blue Square, followed by Ask (14/1, 888Sport), Macarthur (14/1, Totesport), Petara Bay (66/1, Bet 365) and Red Rock Canyon (200/1, Ladbrokes).
