Favourites Struggle At Scottish Open

Two of the favourites to win the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale next week appear to be struggling with form at the Scottish Open in Loch Lomond.
Ernie Els, who was heavily backed to win the Major warm-up event on Thursday morning, finished the first day one over par after bogeying twice on the last two holes.
Meanwhile, world number two Phil Mickelson - the pre-tournament favourite - only managed par, putting him seven shots behind leaders Thongchai Jaidee and Alexander Noren.
Following the first round, the odds on Els winning are 40/1 at Bet 365, while Mickelson is 20/1 at Blue Square.
Angel Cabrera, who lies in second place with six under, is the new favourite at 8/1 with Totesport, while the same odds are available on Lee Westwood at Ladbrokes, after the British hopeful finished the day four under.
Mickelson explained that he was fighting against the rust yesterday and believes he still stands a decent chance of victory should he manage a good round today.
"After a three-week lay-off I sometimes have trouble with my putting in the first round back but I'm looking forward to day two and a round in the low 60s can get me back into the tournament," he said.
