Els Picked As The Man To Watch At Scottish Open
Wednesday 09 July 2008 at 09:07
Ernie Els has been selected as one of the men to keep an eye on at the Scottish Open at Loch Lomond this week.
The South African was put in the spotlight by Sky Sports due to his fantastic record at the golf course, having won the championship twice and finished inside the top three on two others occasions.
Phil Mickelson was also picked out by the news broadcaster, with the world number two looking to improve on last year's runner-up finish, which came after losing a playoff to Gregory Havret.
The bookmakers appears to agree with Sky Sports' choices, making Mickelson the favourite for the tournament, ahead of Els.
Punters can get odds of 9/1 on the American at SkyBet, while Els is 11/1 at Paddy Power.
Interestingly, third favourite Lee Westwood (14/1, Bet 365) was not chosen by the news provider for its six-man shortlist, nor was Henrik Stenson (25/1, Totesport).
Sky Sports instead decided to go with Adam Scott (15/1, Stan James), Andres Romero (28/1, SkyBet), Ian Poulter (35/1, Sportingbet) and Colin Montgomerie (40/1, Ladbrokes).
