Ancelotti Rules Himself Out Of Being Next Chelsea Manager
Wednesday 04 June 2008 at 09:04
Carlo Ancelotti has distanced himself from rumours that he is to be the next Chelsea manager, claiming he has no intention of leaving AC Milan.
The 48-year-old, who was the ESM European Coach of the Year in 2007, issued a statement saying that he would like to remain with the Italian giants for the foreseeable future.
"I'm staying at AC Milan for sure - and for many seasons to come," he remarked.
"There has been no agreement with Chelsea. They are just rumours, the same ones that come up every year."
Ancelotti had been the favourite to replace Avram Grant at one stage, but following his announcement his odds have lengthened to 9/2 with Paddy Power.
Another prospective manager Mark Hughes has moved out even further to 13/1 with Bet Fair, as it becomes more and more likely that he will join Manchester City.
Roberto Mancini, whose agent claimed was to stay at Inter Milan just days before he was sacked, is the favourite for the job yet again, with William Hill offering odds of 11/4.
