Eriksson Unlikely To Be Next Chelsea Manager As Rumours Link Him To Mexico
Tuesday 03 June 2008 at 09:13
Sven-Goran Eriksson does not appear to be in-line to be the next Chelsea manager, despite being made available after Manchester City sacked him yesterday.
The former England boss is in the running to take over the Mexican national side, according to BBC Sport, which claims a decision will be made later today.
Eriksson had been among the favourites to take over at Stamford Bridge a few weeks ago, but he has since drifted out to 16/1 with Bet 365.
William Hill claimed at the start of this week that ex-Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard is being the most heavily backed by punters, although he is only second favourite to get the position at 5/2 with PartyBets.
Mark Hughes is 2/1 with Bet 365, but is a much stronger favourite to be the next Manchester City manager after reports that Blackburn Rovers are letting him speak to the Eastlands club.
Should he end up at the City of Manchester Stadium, it is thought that his salary would be in the region of £3 million a year.
