Friday 30 May 2008 at 08:45
Matthew Goggin leads the field heading into the second round of the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield today.
The Australian finished Thursday's round seven under par, putting him one shot ahead of Americans Kenny Perry and Jerry Kelly.
Perry, who has won the Jack Nicklaus hosted competition twice before, has been installed as the new favourite by the bookmakers, with punters able to get odds of 13/2 on the 47-year-old with Bet 365.
A Goggin victory is 10/1 at Paddy Power, while former US Open champion Geoff Ogilvy, who hit a 69 to finish three under, is 12/1 at Stan James.
English golf fans will no doubt be cheered by Luke Donald and Justin Rose's good first day performances, which left them tied for sixth on the leaderboard at four under par.
Donald is 12/1 to win with Bet 365, which offers odds of 14/1 on Rose.
Rod Pampling , who is five under, is also 14/1 with Paddy Power, while Kelly and five under Brett Quigley are rated at 16/1 and 33/1 respectively by Bet 365.
