Old Firm Result Opens Up Title Race
Monday 28 April 2008 at 10:34
Celtic opened up a five point gap over Rangers after their victory in the Old Firm game on Sunday.
Following their 3-2 win at Parkhead their odds have come in to 13/8 with Coral to lift the Scottish Premier League title.
It was Celtic's second victory over their Glasgow rivals in 12 days but Rangers still have three games in hand in the race for the title.
Celtic manager Gordon Strachan spoke about the game and wouldn't admit that this victory gave them any advantage.
"I can't tell you how anyone else will react to it, it just makes us feel good about ourselves," he said, "We were disappointed to lose the goals from set-plays but I enjoyed everything apart from that."
A double from Scott MacDonald and a penalty from Barry Robson won the game for Celtic, cancelling out goals from David Weir and Daniel Cousin.
Rangers face a hectic schedule and a mounting injury list as they remain in contention for a quadruple of trophy wins this season.
They remain at 4/9 with 888sport to edge out their rivals and win the Scottish Premier League.
