Chambers DoesnÂ't Improve Castleford's Super League Odds
Monday 31 March 2008 at 16:10
Dwayne Chambers has reiterated his determination to compete at this summers Olympics despite starting a month long trial at Super League team Castleford.
The bookmakers don't seem very optimistic about Castleford's fortunes changing as they are still firm favourites to finish bottom of the Super League, with odds of 2/9 with BetFred that they will remain rooted to the base of the league.
Chambers has never played rugby league before and said to the BBC: "My only experience of rugby is the photo-shoot the other day with the ball in my hand.
"I'm taking lots of punches and blows for what happened, but I'm a competitor at heart so I just want to go out there and have some fun."
While serving a two-year athletics ban Chambers unsuccessfully attempted a career in the NFL Europa with the Hamburg Sea Devils, but the league ceased operations before Chambers ever made an appearance.
Castleford take on St Helens on Sunday, with the latter second favourites for the Super League title at 5/1 with 888sport after their 14-10 weekend defeat by leaders Leeds.
