Wenger Hoping To Topple Milan To Boost Champions League Odds
Wednesday 20 February 2008 at 09:21
Arsene Wenger has revealed that tonight's (February 20th) Champions League clash with AC Milan is the "ultimate test" for his Arsenal side.
The Gunners are slight favourites going into tonight's match-up, rated at 11/10 with Ladbrokes. The Italians are the 5/2 underdogs with BetDirect.
And Wenger claimed that his side has what it takes to beat the current Champions League holders, but admitted that the task would be a difficult one.
"We're in the position of challengers but Milan are the holders," he told the BBC. "They have quality and experience. We are a team who can challenge and beat them, so we want to be at our best."
He added: "The knockout phase of the Champions League is a completely different competition from the group stages.
"Every goal can become decisive, which is not the case during the group matches.
"Milan are very consistent in this competition and they have a great record, so it is the perfect opportunity for us to show how good we are - especially the younger players."
Emmanuel Adebayor is the favourite to open the scoring at the Emirates stadium tonight, rated at 5/1 with Ladbrokes.
