Blanc Call On France To Keep Their Heads
Tuesday 09 October 2007 at 16:51
Football World Cup winner Laurent Blanc has issued some advice for his rugby playing countrymen, telling them that they must guard against losing control when they face England on Saturday.
The two teams are vying for a place in the final and are both playing for pride as France will be in front of a home crowd while England have the title to defend.
Sporting Bet currently prices France at 2/5 to win and England at 2/1.
However, Blanc claims France will not stand a chance unless they maintain some perspective and keep their feet on the ground.
"More than ever, our players must stay in the same state of mind," Blanc told Reuters.
"They must not get carried way."
"They must not think about the final too early, nor must they change their habits."
Meanwhile, for France coach Bernard Laporte it is England fly-half Jonny Wilkinson that poses the biggest problem. "He has come back well. He is the motor of the team," Laporte told the BBC. "England do not perform as well when he is not there. He gives them confidence and plays flat out." The odds of Wilkinson being first on the score sheet on Saturday with a drop goal or penalty are priced at 10/1 and 15/8 respectively, again with Sporting Bet.
