England Plug The Gaps Ahead Of South African Clash
Wednesday 12 September 2007 at 14:54
Andy Farrell has been chosen to fill the fly-half role for England against South Africa on Friday as coach Brian Ashton tries to fill the gaps.
The position is starting to look jinxed, with Jonny Wilkinson and Olly Barkley both vacating the role through injury.
England will hope the team will gel quickly and be able to overcome match favourites South Africa who are currently priced at 1/10 against England on 11/2 with Bet365.
With England without their captain Phil Vickery, who is banned for two matches, handicap odds seem to be the most interesting prospects, as do winning margins.
England will have to defend better that they did against the USA and will no doubt focus much of their play on defence. A close game is therefore predicted.
South Africa themselves will need to cope without the banned Schalk Burger.
The odds of a close victory by South Africa are available at 7/1 from Sky Bet for a one to five point victory and at 11/2 for a six to ten point victory.
