US Open Odds For The Europeans Headed By Harrington And Garcia
Wednesday 11 June 2008 at 08:46
Padraig Harrington (25/1 to win the US Open with Ladbrokes) and Sergio Garcia (18/1 to win the US Open with Paddy Power) fought out the finish of last year's British Open and there is every chance they will be battling it out for the 2008 US Open.
Last year at Carnoustie Harrington just came out best in a play off but this time it may be the Spaniard who has the better chance and Garcia's improved recent form make him an excellent each way bet at 18/1 with Paddy Power especially with their extended each way offer of ¼ the odds 1-2-3-4-5-6 places.
Garcia for Top EuropeanSergio has appealed for a number of years as a potential US Open winner given his tremendous accuracy and now he has started to putt better he looks a good bet for the Top European market as well.
Garcia is a best priced 5/1 with Boylesports. Harrington looks the biggest danger and he is available at 11/2 with William Hill.
Harrington too classy in GB and Ireland marketWhilst Padraig Harrington may have to give way to Garcia in the Top European market he does not have to face the Spaniard in the Top GB and Ireland betting and he would appear to have a fair bit in hand over the likes of Luke Donald (4/1 with Stan James) and Justin Rose (4/1 with Boylesports).
Harrington tailors his whole year to playing the majors and he can be expected to have a good week. Back Harrington to be top GB and Ireland at 5/2 with Bet 365.
Harrington at 9/10 against Singh best match betAs stated above Irishman Padraig Harrington could figure prominently this week and he definitely looks attractive in Paddy Power's Match betting with Vijay Singh.
The Fijian has not looked at his best this year and this tournament has often proved troublesome for him in the past and it wouldnt be a surprise to see him struggle at Torey Pines. Harrington at 9/10 to beat Singh looks a decent wager with Paddy Power.
