Paul Ince Next Blackburn Manager Odds Fall As Announcement Draws Near
Thursday 19 June 2008 at 12:41
Paul Ince looks set to become the Next Blackburn Manager after he reached odds of 2/7 with Blue Square.
Blackburn Chairman John Williams stated earlier in the week that he expected to be able to announce a new manager by the end of the week. BBC Radio 5 Live reporter Juliette Ferrington has stated:
The former England captain has always been a target of Blackburn and the MK Dons are expecting the situation to be resolved in the next few days.
Allardyce and McClaren Out Of Luck
This news appears to mean Sam Allardyce and Steve McClaren will have to wait longer than expected to get back into management. Allardyce had been the favourite for the job earlier in the week after being interviewed but he is now 5/1 with Blue Square. McClaren, who was also heavily linked with the job, is now 12/1 with SkyBet.
McClaren has been out of work since being sacked as manager of England but finishing behind Croatia and Russia is starting to look a better achievement now with both sides qualifying for the knockout phase of Euro 2008.
Ince To Be Next Manchester United Manager
Ince did well at Macclesfield, his first managerial role, before moving to Mk Dons where he won the League Two Championship and the Football League Trophy in his first season in charge.
He will now have to prove himself at Premiership level and if he proves a success he could be in line to take over from Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United. Betfair have a market on Next Man Utd Manager and Carlos Queiroz is currently favourite at 7.4. Ince is 46 for the job and is well behind former team mates Roy Keane, Mark Hughes and Steve Bruce in the betting.
Blackburn Odds
Blackburn are 1000/1 to win the Premiership next season with SkyBet but not even the most positive fan would expect that. They are 33/1 with SkyBet for a Top 4 Finish, 16/1 with Paddy Power in betting without the ‘big four'and 14/1 with Ladbrokes to be relegated. Bet365 have Blackburn at 25/1 to win the Carling Cup.
