New Approach Odds On Favourite
New Approach won the Derby in fairly impressive fashion having pulled hard in the early stages of the race when held up for the first time in his career. New Approach is 10/11 with SkyBet and Paddy Power to win Irish Derby.
Tartan Bearer Could Get Closer
Tartan Bearer put in a really strong performance to run New Approach within half a length and could still have plenty of improvement left after just four runs. Tartan Bearer is 3/1 with Paddy Power and Stan James and is 4/1 favourite for the St Leger with Paddy Power.
Casual Conquest To Improve After Three Runs
Casual Conquest was a well beaten third in the Derby but was having just his third start in the Derby and could improve further for a conventional track. He is 6/1 with Bet365.
Doctor Fremantle Overpriced
Doctor Fremantle led the Derby field turning for home but eventually faded into fourth. That was still a very creditable run and he could be overpriced for the race at 14/1 with Sportingbet.
Ballydoyle Runners
Aidan O'Brien saddled the fifth and sixth in the Derby, Washington Irving and Alessandro Volta who are 16/1 and 14/1 respectively with Sportingbet for The Irish Derby. The latter looked to have plenty of stamina on Derby Day and it is nor surprise he is prominent in the St Leger betting at 12/1 with Bet365.
Dettori Irish Derby Ride
Another interesting contender is Luca Cumani's Curtain Call who was well fancied for the Derby but didn't seem to handle the track as well as others and was seemingly given an easy time by Jamie Spencer when his chance was gone. He is set to be replaced in the saddle by Frankie Dettori and that will make his Irish Derby odds of 14/1 with Paddy Power popular. He could improve on the bare form of the Epsom Derby the most.
