Duke Of Marmalade Favourite Of Eight In King George Betting
Thursday 24 July 2008 at 12:41
Eight Runners will go to post for Saturday's King George VI and QE Stakes with Duke Of Marmalade a red hot favourite at 10/11 with Sportingbet and Coral.
O'Brien Saddles Three Including Favourite
Aidan O ‘Brien, who saddled last year's winner Dylan Thomas, also runs Macarthur and Red Rock Canyon. Macarthur, who win the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot on his most recent start, is 14/1 with Bet365 and Paddy Power and Red Rock Canyon is the complete outsider of the field at 200/1 with William Hill.
Last Year's Second Bids To Go One Better
Youmzain was runner up in the race this year and is looking to add to his two group ones but he may have preferred a bit more cut in the ground. Mick Channon's charge can be backed at 3/1 with SkyBet and Stan James.
Newmarket Rematch On The Cards
Lucarno and Papal Bull reoppose after their meeting just two weeks ago when Lucarno seemed to snatch the race from the front. Lucarno was giving Papal Bull 5lbs that day and is slight favourite between the two to confirm that form. Lucarno is 9/1 with Coral and William Hill whilst Papal Bull is 11/1 with SkyBet.
Two Overpriced Horses Complete The Field
The field is completed by Ask (14/1 William Hill) and Petara Bay (66/1 Bet365). Ask looks overpriced on his best form and although the ground will be firmer than ideal the distance should suit well. Petara Bay is another who looks overpriced but doesn't look a likely winner, even on his best form. A place bet may be the best option.
