Kevin Keegan Still Favourite In Next Newcastle Manager Betting
Tuesday 28 October 2008 at 11:25
Kevin Keegan is still the favourite to be the Next Newcastle Manager on a permanent basis but a decision looks as though it could still be months away. The Newcastle board had hoped for a quick resolution but despite a drop in the asking price for the club there are still no buyers and everything seems to have gone quiet.
The Messiah Favourite For Third Stint
Kevin Keegan remains the favourite to be the next permanent manager and he can be backed at 5/2 with Blue Square to return to St James Park for a third time. Many of the consortiums interested in buying the club are thought to want Kevin Keegan to return as manager and it would certainly be a popular decision.
Kinnear Given Chance To Prove Himself
With no quick takeover it seems as though Joe Kinnear will be given an extended audition for the job as he continues to act as the caretaker manager. If he does a good job there is no reason why he shouldn't be given the job on a permanent basis and he can be backed at 5/1 with William Hill.
Shearer Could Still Return To The Club
Newcastle legend Alan Shearer is 13/2 with William Hill despite repeatedly ruling himself out of the running and turning down the job in the past. Shearer might be tempted to begin his managerial career at Newcastle if the new owners made available large amounts of transfer funds.
Other Names Linked With The Job
Gus Poyet is a former odds on favourite for the job and is now available after being sacked as Spurs' assistant manager. He is 7/1 with Blue Square. Dennis Wise, the current Director of Football at Newcastle, looks a very big price at 50/1 with Blue Square but he would be a very unpopular appointment with the fans.
