 Having underperformed in the group stages, England now face a knockout phase with Germany followed by Argentina.
History between the two sides shows results going either way in recent times with the five games since Euro 96

Only the last two are fairly recent however and both were friendlies so there is little to go on.
England Team News
England appear to be at virtually full strength with even Ledley King a possible to start. News on the fitness of Wayne Rooney is scarce and if there are any problems they are certainly being kept quiet.
Germany Team News
There are doubts of all three of Schweinsteiger, Boateng and Ozil for the Germans although none of the injuries are thought to be especially serious. Any one of those being absent would be a big plus for England however.
