Sam Allardyce Odds On Favourite In Next Blackburn Manager Betting Odds
Wednesday 17 December 2008 at 11:40
Sam Allardyce is the odds on favourite to be the Next Blackburn Manager and everything is pointing to the ex Bolton and Newcastle manager being appointed this week.
Big Sam A Great Bet To Return To Management This Week
Allardyce can now be backed at 10/11 with Paddy Power and Coral and that still looks a decent price and here's why. Allardyce was interviewed for the job in the summer but the doomed Paul Ince was given the job. Blackburn have said they expect a new manager to be in place before Saturday. This means the candidate will have to be available and well known to the Blackburn board. Allardyce fits both those criteria. He also seems to be the fans choice which is always a good sign and his style will be ideally suited to Blackburn and relegation dogfight they now face.
Souness Looks the Back Up Choice
The betting makes it a two horse race between Allardyce and Graeme Souness. Souness can be backed at 5/2 with SkyBet and like Allardyce, he is available and known to the board as a former manager of the club. The fact that Allardyce has been extremely well backed in the last 24 hours suggests he is top of the shortlist but should he turn down the job in favour of becoming the Next Sunderland Manager Souness would be a shoe in for the job.
Curbs Not High On Blackburn Shortlist
The next best manager is Alan Curbishley and he is available at 14/1 with Bet365. The massive gap in odds between Souness and Curbsihley shows how much the bookies think this is a two horse race. Curbishley is available to start right away but it seems the Blackburn board don't rate him too highly.
Irish Bookie Fancies Roy Keane For Job
Other potential new managers still believed to be in the race are Roy Keane, who is as big as 18/1 with Bet365 despite being just 6/1 with Paddy Power, Dave Jones, who is 33/1 with Bet365 and Alan Shearer who is 40/1 with Bet365.
