Heath Ledger Looks Sure To Win Best Supporting Actor At Golden Globes For Dark Knight Role
Thursday 08 January 2009 at 11:18
Heath Ledger is the red hot favourite to win the Golden Globes Supporting Actor award for his role as The Joker in the Dark Knight. Ledger died before the film was released from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs and it is not yet clear who will accept the award on his behalf.
Ledger Is Certainty For The Joker Portrayal
Jack Nicholson may have made the role of the Joker famous in the original Batman movie but Heath Ledger put a completely new dark twist on the character. It was an absolutely amazing performance and there is little doubt he will win. Paddy Power go 1/8 that Ledger wins the Golden Globe and even though it is a short price, it still looks a decent bet.
Philip Seymour Hoffman Could Win Second Globe For Priest Role
Philip Seymour Hoffman already has a Golden Globe for Best Actor for his performance in Capote and he has been nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Doubt, a story of a nun who confronts a priest about abuse to a black student. Philip Seymour Hoffman is 9/1 with Bet365 to win his second Golden Globe.
Ben Stiller Film Grabs Two Nominations
Comedy Film Tropic Thunder, which is directed by and stars Ben Stiller, has managed to get two nominations for Best Supporting Actor. Robert Downey Jr. plays a black actor in the film and is 12/1 with Bet365 to win the award whilst Tom Cruise is 25/1 with Paddy Power after playing an unfamiliar role. He is a fat balding film executive.
Ralph Fiennes Looking To Make It Third Time Lucky
The nominations are completed by Ralph Fiennes, who has previously been nominated for Golden Globes and even Oscars for his roles in The English Patient and Schindler's List. Fiennes is 18/1 with Bet365 to win the Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe for his performance in The Duchess, where he plays the Duke of Devonshire.
