 The Golden Globe awards will be made on Sunday and most of the markets have a clear favourite and a very likely winner. With some of the short priced favourites it could be best to put them together in an accumulator in order to secure a nice return.
Heath Ledger Is Biggest Cert Of The Night
The award perhaps most people are talking about is the Best Supporting Actor for which Heath Ledger is the 1/8 favourite with Paddy Power for his portrayal of The Joker in the Dark Knight. He looks nailed on to win that award.
Slumdog Millionaire Expected To Be Big Hit
In the Best Director category Danny Boyle has been well supported for Slumdog Millionaire and he can now be backed at 8/11 with Paddy Power. Slumdog Millionaire is also favourite in the Best Picture category and is 4/7 with Paddy Power and Bet365. Slumdog Millionaire recently won five Critics' Choice Awards and is expected to clear up at the Golden Globes as well.
Best Actor And Best Actress Betting
Sean Penn looks likely to pick up the Best Actor award for Milk and can be backed at 5/6 with Bet365 although we think Mickey Rourke will push him very close for his role in The Wrestler. Rourke is 7/2 with SkyBet. In the best Actress category Anne Hathaway is favourite at 2/1 with Paddy Power but we think Kate Winslet might win for her role in Revolutionary Road and she can be backed at 3/1 with Boylesports.
Best Golden Globes Betting
We would suggest placing a treble on Slumdog Millionaire to win Best Picture, Danny Boyle to win Best Director and Heath Ledger to win Best Supporting Actor and that pays just over 2/1 with Paddy Power. Hopefully that will make it an interesting and profitable evening.
