Manchester United Carling Cup Odds Look Good After Spurs Struggle At Burnley
Thursday 22 January 2009 at 11:12
Manchester United are the hot favourites to win the Carling Cup after their opponents in the final, Tottenham Hotspur, got a lucky escape against Burnley on Wednesday night. It took a last minute extra time goal to save Spurs and they now face Manchester United at Wembley on March 1st.
A Good Bet At Wembley
United can be backed at 4/9 with SkyBet, Ladbrokes and Coral to win the Carling Cup. Going on performances this week you would have to say that Manchester United look a very good bet to win the Carling Cup despite the odds initially looking cramped. Sir Alex Ferguson is likely to play a mix of youth a fringe players along with a few first team regulars in the final but that should still be enough to beat struggling Spurs.
More Silverware In Store For United
It looks as though it will be a successful season for Manchester United, they are already favourites to win the Premiership and they are also joint favourites to win the FA Cup, in which they face Spurs on Saturday. Manchester United are 4/7 with Ladbrokes to win the Premiership now that they have found their way to the top and they are 4/1 with Bet365 and Paddy Power. Harry Redknapp has already said Spurs will send a shadow squad up to Old Trafford on Saturday due to injuries and priorities elsewhere so it should be an easy win for the Reds. They look good at 4/11 with SkyBet to win that game.
Manchester United Not Favourites For One Competition
There is one competition that Manchester United are not favourites in and that's the Champions League. Barcelona are the 7/2 favourites with Coral and Manchester United are the 6/1 second favourites with Bet365 and Blue Square. If Manchester United defeat Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan in the next round their odds are likely to shorten plenty.
