Next Chelsea Manager Betting Odds Point To Return For The Special One Jose Mourinho
Monday 09 February 2009 at 17:29
Jose Mourinho is just one of the names that has been backed this evening to become the Next Chelsea Manager. There has been frantic early betting on who replace Phil Scolari, who was sacked this afternoon, and with most of the popular bookies now having priced up the Next Chelsea Manager betting odds we can see who is most likely to get the job.
The Special One Set To Return To Stamford Bridge
Jose Mourinho, currently in charge of Inter Milan, is as big as 25/1 with SkyBet but as short as 6/1 with Ladbrokes. Several bookies have been forced to slash their odds on Mourinho landing the job due to strong early support.
Hiddink Could Join Chelsea But Will He Be Manager?
The general favourite is Guus Hiddink and he is available at 3/1 with Paddy Power and SkyBet, although Stan James think he is a cert to get the job, they offer just 10/11. SkySports News has been reporting that Hiddink is being lined up as Director of Football and that is a slight warning to those backing him to become next manager.
Avram Grant Looking A Good Bet At This Stage
Sky Sports News has also been reporting that Avram Grant could return to take over first team affairs. If that is true he would be paid out as the next manager and the best odds available for Grant are 10/1 with Ladbrokes. That is well ahead of the 5/2 being offered by Stan James so get stuck in now before the odds on Grant shorten.
International Managers Backed To Get Chelsea Post
Two other names punters have been keen to back are former England boss Sven Goran Eriksson and current Croatia manager Slaven Bilic. Both have been cut by the majority of bookies but those wanting to back Eriksson to return to English football can still get 16/1 with Stan James (has been backed from 20/1 into 7/1 in places). Bilic is best priced 33/1 with Blue Square and SkyBet. Having been as big as 50/1, he is as short as 8/1 with Stan James.
Italian Managers On The Drift
A name that has been less popular with punters than he would be with the fans is Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola. VC Bet may have cut him from 22/1 into 9/1 but most bookies have been steadily lengthening Zola's odds since betting began. Also on the drift is Roberto Mancini, favourite for the job at some points during the summer before Phil Scolari was appointed. Mancini has been as short as 4/1 but he is drifting with most bookies and you can get 9/1 with Stan James and Sportingbet.
