Sven Goran Eriksson Next Portsmouth Manager Odds On The Slide As He Becomes Favourite
Tuesday 10 February 2009 at 11:17
Sven Goran Eriksson could be a surprise new manager of Portsmouth in time for their game against Eriksson's old club, Macnhester City on Saturday.
Sven Set For English Return
Erikkson, who has also been linked with Chelsea, has become favourite in the Next Portsmouth Manager betting this morning and the best price he can now be backed at is 3/1 with Blue Square. Sven had been as big as 16/1 when betting began but he has been steadily backed ever since. It is believed that Portsmouth are willing to let him continue his duties as Mexico manager whilst in charge.
Avram Appears To Have Choice Of Jobs
Avram Grant had been the favourite to land the job at Fratton Park but it appears he could be on his way to Chelsea. As a result the former Director of Football at Portsmouth has now drifted out to 7/2 with Bet365 and Boylesports although he is still as short as even money with Ladbrokes.
Curbs Would Be Good Appointment
The other main contender for the job is Alan Curbishley who is 9/2 with Bet365. Curbs has been linked with every job under the sun this season but he may have finally found a suitable one. He saved West Ham from certain looking relegation a couple of seasons ago and Portsmouth are in a much better position this season.
Paul Hart And Slaven Bilic Are Outsiders
The best of the rest appear to be Paul Hart and Slaven Bilic. Paul Hart is currently in charge of Portsmouth so has an opportunity to prove himself the best contender for the job, he can be backed at 25/1 with SkyBet although he is as short as 10/1 in places. Slaven Bilic is touted for every Premiership job that becomes available and he is likely to wait for a better opportunity despite being just 5/1 with William Hill (best priced 16/1 with Blue Square).
