Wales Grand Slam Odds Shorten As England Are Defeated
Monday 16 February 2009 at 10:33
The odds on a Welsh Grand Slam at this year's Six Nations shortened on Saturday night after Wales beat England at the Millennium Stadium.
Wales Can Still Be Backed At A Decent Price
Wales are now the odds on favourites with most bookies, Totesport go as short as 4/6, but Boylesports are holding firm at even money. You can claim up to £200 in free bets with a new Boylesports account which should allow you to have a hefty bet on Wales if, like most, you fancy them to triumph in the Six Nations.
Grand Slam Odds
After Wales defeated England they were backed into 2/1 with William Hill to win the Grand Slam. With Wales already having defeated Scotland and now England there must be a great chance they can complete the Grand Slam. The only other side still capable of winning the Grand Slam are Ireland, they can be backed at 4/1 with Stan James and Ladbrokes. The bookies still rate no Grand Slam the most likely outcome, that is 11/10 with Totesport and Blue Square.
England Well Behind Ireland
So where does Saturday's 23 – 15 defeat leave England? They are now the 25/1 fourth favourites with Blue Square. That leaves them well behind Ireland who the bookies think are the main challengers to Wales, Ireland are 2/1 with Stan James and Sportingbet to win the Six Nations.
Rest Of The Betting
The French are still in with a decent chance and they can be backed at 7/1 with Paddy Power and Ladbrokes. Scotland and Italy both seem out of it after two defeats, Scotland are 500/1 with Totesport and Italy are a whopping 2500/1 with Stan James.
