Next Portsmouth Manager Odds On Paul Hart Slide After Pompey Win
Monday 16 February 2009 at 12:36
Portsmouth's first league win since November has led to a gamble on caretaker manager Paul Hart to land the job on a full time basis but it still seems as though Sven Goran Eriksson and Avram Grant are in the running to get the Fratton Park job.
Paul Hart Proving It's Not That Difficult
Paul Hart has already gained almost a third of the Premiership points that Tony Adams managed to gain in his three and a half month stint as boss. As a result he is now just 4/1 with Paddy Power to be handed the job. Portsmouth have another winnable game this week against Stoke and a good display there could hand the job to Hart.
Sven Still Looks Number One Choice
Sven is still the narrow favourite to be the Next Portsmouth Manager, he can be backed at 5/2 with Bet365 but he is short as 13/8 with Coral and William Hill. His job as Mexico manager seems secure for now so if he is to takeover at Portsmouth it seems it would be a part time appointment.
Avram Throws His Hat Into The Ring
Avram Grant has apparently said that he would welcome a return to the Premiership and would love to manage Portsmouth so it seems all that needs to happen is an approach from Portsmouth. Grant is 9/2 with SkyBet to get the job and he would seem to be a good appointment considering what he did at Chelsea last year.
The Other Likely Candidates
Other names in the frame include Slaven Bilic who has been backed down to 10/1 with SkyBet and Coral whilst Alan Curbishley is now 12/1 with Paddy Power. There had been a major gamble on Roy Keane but interest in the former Sunderland manager seems to have cooled, he is now out to 16/1 with Paddy Power and Coral. At bigger odds, Roberto Martinez, currently working wonders at Swansea, would be a good pick at 50/1 with Coral, William Hill are taking no chances and offer just 20/1.
