Cheltenham Festival Top Jockey Odds Dominated By Ruby Walsh And Tony McCoy
Tuesday 10 March 2009 at 10:39
Ruby Walsh is the hot favourite to be the Cheltenham Top Jockey this week but legendary Tony McCoy is not far behind. Both have a great book of rides and will be looking to get the Festival off to a great start this afternoon.
Ruby Walsh Has Amazing Book Of Rides This Week
Ruby Walsh, whose book of rides this week includes Celestial Halo in the Champion Hurdle, Master Minded in the Champion Chase and Kauto Star in the Gold Cup, is the 11/8 favourite with Coral to be the Cheltenham Festival Top Jockey. Celestial Halo is the 9/1 second favourite in this afternoon's Champion Hurdle with William Hill and Paddy Power. Walsh got quite easily rack up two or three winners this afternoon and if that happens he will be a very short price for Top Jockey.
McCoy On Short Priced Favourite
Toy McCoy rides the shortest price favourite of the day, Binocular in the Champion Hurdle. Tony McCoy is 7/2 with Blue Square to land the Top Jockey title and he holds a great chance of getting off the mark with Binocular who is 7/4 with Bet365 and SkyBet. McCoy also rides Wichita Lineman, the favourite in the William Hill Trophy Chase. Wichita Lineman is 13/2 with Coral.
Choc Thornton Has One Of The Most Popular Rides Of The Day
Robert Thornton is one of the most popular jockeys riding at the moment and he will ride Katchit, a very popular horse in the Champion Hurdle. He is 7/1 with Bet365 and Paddy Power and has some great rides later in the week so he is likely to be a big challenger. Katchit is 14/1 with Paddy Power and SkyBet to win the Champion Hurdle.
Barry Geraghty Has Chances On Tuesday
The other jockey in with a good chance according to the odds is Barry Geraghty. Geraghty is an 8/1 shot with Bet365 and Blue Square. Geraghty's best chances on Tursday appear to be Forpadydeplasterer who is 10/1 with Bet365 and Stan James for the Arkle Chase and Chomba Womba who is 15/2 with Paddy Power and SkyBet to win the David Nicholson Mares Hurdle.
