Premiership Relegation Odds For Newcastle And Hull Look Good As Season End Draws Close
Monday 16 March 2009 at 11:06
Relegations Odds are becoming more and more popular in the Premiership with just nine games left for most sides this season. It still seems there are about nine sides that are fighting the relegation battle but some of those are picking up points and should end up safe.
Teams That Should Stay Up
Bolton (12/1 SkyBet), Sunderland (8/1 SkyBet) and Blackburn (13/2 SkyBet) are all still just one or two bad weeks away from ebing in the relegation zone but they seem best equipped to survive. Even Portsmouth (10/3 William Hill), who are seventeeth and looked dead and buried under Tony Adams, have been picking up points under Tony Hart and look likely to now stay up.
Those That Are Definitely Going Down
Then you have the sides that are already down. West Brom fans would argue would argue they can make up the seven point deficit but it looks as though they will have to score four goals to have a chance of winning at the moment the way they are defending. At 1/9 with Ladbrokes and William Hill they are going down.
Middlesbrough may only be two point fro safety but they simply don't score enough goals and as a result they are very likely to go down. They should be well backed at 11/10 with Ladbrokes to suffer relgation.
Newcastle In Real Trouble
That leaves Stoke (10/11 Bet365), Newcastle (2/1 SkyBet) and Hull (7/2 Coral) fighting to avoid the third relegation spot. Stoke at strong at home and even though they currently sit in the relegation zone they may just avoid relegation. Newcastle have Michael Owen returning from injury will be a big boost but they have a very difficult run in and with no manager they could really struggle. Hull have been in poor form all year and are likely to be Newcastle's best hope of staying up.
Relegation Trebles
SkyBet are currently offering relegation trebles. We think the ones to concentrate on are West Brom, Middlesbrough and Stoke (9/2 SkyBet), West Brom, Middlesbrough and Newcastle (13/2 SkyBet) and West Brom, Middlesbrough and Hull (14/1 SkyBet). There is slight preference for the latter two. To see all of the possible combinations, visit the SkyBet website.
