F1 Drivers Championship 2009 Betting Headed By Lewis Hamilton With Some Bookies
Thursday 19 March 2009 at 12:06
William Hill are offering to refund bets on the F1 Drivers Championship 2009 after a rule change meant that the title will now be decided by wins, rather than points. For most people that may not seem like a big change but if that had been the case last year it would have been Felipe Massa who won the Drivers Championship, not Lewis Hamilton.
Kimi Raikonnen Favourite With Many To Win Title
The betting for this year's F1 Drivers Championship is extremely tight, you could throw a blanket over the main contenders. Kimi Raikonnen is the narrow favourite and can be backed at a best price of 4/1 with Paddy Power, Ladbrokes and Coral. Things didn't quite pan out for Raikonnen last season and his Ferrari team mate Felipe Massa ended up having a better season but it is expected the Finn will turn the tables this year.
Lewis Hamilton Hoping Rule Changes Doesn't Affect His Chances
Last year's winner, Lewis Hamilton, is one of the favourites to retain the Championship, he can be backed at a best price of 9/2 with Bet365 and SkyBet. Hamilton started extremely well last year and will be hoping for another bright start next week in the Australian Grand Prix.
Fernando Alonso Hoping To Get Back On Track
Hamilton's former team mate, Fernando Alonso, is well fancied by many, he can be backed at 9/2 with Paddy Power, Blue Square and William Hill. The Spaniard didn't have the best of season's last year after leaving McLaren but he can clearly do better.
Massa Hoping For Another Good Season
Felipe Massa almost stole the Championship from Hamilton last year but a dramatic finish meant he just missed out. Massa is again driving for Ferrari with Raikonnen and can be backed at 5/1 with Bet365 and Coral. Ferrari will be very strong this year and should be backed to win the Constructors Championship at 11/8 with Blue Square and SkyBet.
