Next Sunderland Manager Betting Odds Have Steve Bruce As Favourite After Ricky Sbragia Quits
Monday 25 May 2009 at 10:51
Ricky Sbragia quit yesterday after keeping Sunderland in the Preniership and the Next Sunderland Betting Odds suggest that Sunderland could go for yet another British manager.
Sunderland Could Look To Tempt Bruce
Steve Bruce is the current favourite to land the job and he can be backed at 7/2 with VC Bet but he is as short as 5/2 with SkyBet. There is no question that Steve Bruce has done a great job at Wigan but how far can he take them? He may see Sunderland as having more long term potential and that might be enough to land the ex Manchester United skipper.
Martin Jol Lined Up As Next Best Choice
The bookies reckon that if Bruce doesn't get the job then it is likely that ex Spurs boss Martin Jol will be lined up to take over. Martin Jol is 11/2 with William Hill but early money has forced VC Bet to cut Jol into 3/1. Martin Jol almost did the unthinkable and got Spurs into the Champions League so he is clearly a very talented manager.
Strachan To Make Premier Return?
There are loads of other big names in the frame, two of which are Gordon Strachan and Slaven Bilic, both of whom are 8/1 with SkyBet. Strachan has been strongly linked with several jobs in the Premiership over the past year and the speculation has been particularly strong this time around so it seems he is overpriced whilst Bilic is also always linked with Premiership jobs but he seems to be waiting for a particular offer and this is unlikely to be it.
Ruud Or Sven To Take Job?
Other names to look out for in the betting include Alan Curbishley who is 14/1 with SkyBet, Jurgen Klinsmann who is 16/1 with SkyBet and Claudio Ranieri who is 20/1 with VC Bet. To find out the odds on Stuart Pearce, Gus Poyet, Ruud Gullit and Sven Goran Eriksson and to see who else is being linked, click on any of the bookie links above.
