Next Celtic Manager Betting Odds Suggest Several Managers Have A Chance
Tuesday 26 May 2009 at 11:28
Next Celtic Manager Betting Odds, made available by bookies yesterday after Gordon Strachan quit, suggest that it is an open contest and there are three or four managers in with a good chance of landing the job.
Mowbray Could Take Big Step Up
The main contender at this stage appears to be West Brom manager Tony Mowbray, who has this season suffered relegation to the Championship. Mowbray can currently be backed at best odds of 2/1 with SkyBet, William Hill have him as short as 11/8. It may seem a big step up for Mowbray but he does like his teams to play attacking football so it is not as though Celtic would be employing a long ball merchant from the Championship.
Will Celtic Take Strachan's Advice?
Mark McGhee has been recommended by departing manager Gordon Strachan as the man who should replace him and bookies have reacted by making him a 5/1 shot. Those odds are available with Paddy Power, SkyBet and Ladbrokes.
Owen Coyle Has Done A Great Job At Burnley
Owen Coyle advertised his claims for the job well yesterday by guiding Burnley to victory in the Championship Playoff Final. Coyle knows the Scottish Premier well and is a decent bet at 6/1 with VC Bet considering he is 2/1 elsewhere.
Several Big Names Linked
Another Scottish manager in the frame is Craig Levein who can be backed 8/1 with SkyBet despite being as short as 5/1 with other bookies. To find out the odds on the likes of Slaven Bilic, David Moyes, Paulo Di Canio or Peter Reid landing the job, visit the VC Bet website and click on Football Specials.
