Next Sunderland Manager Will Be Steve Bruce Or Gordon Strachan According To Betting Odds
Tuesday 26 May 2009 at 12:01
The Next Sunderland Manager Betting Odds suggest that it is a two horse race between two British managers to succeed Ricky Sbragia who quit after keeping Sunderland in the Premiership.
Steve Bruce Odds On For Job
Steve Bruce is odds on with most bookies to take the job, his odds of 11/8 with SkyBet look very generous considering he is as short as 4/6 with Bet365 and Stan James. He has done a great job at Wigan but the loss of Emile Heskey and Wilson Palacios in January hasn't left him a lot to work with at the JJB Stadium and he might decide it is the right time for a new challenge.
Gordon Is Available Now
Gordon Strachan, having left Celtic yesterday, is an obvious choice ad can be backed at 13/8 with Bet365. Most bookies have him as their second favourite but SkyBet remain convinced it will be Strachan, they offer just 8/11 and make him favourite. If things fall through with Bruce then Strachan will be a very easy appointment.
Interesting Odds Available On Sven
All other managers are an after thought, Martin Jol is 20/1 with Bet365, Slaven Bilic is 20/1 with Blue Square and Sven Goran Eriksson is interesting at 25/1 with SkyBet because Paddy Power have him at just 6/1. Do they know something we don't?
