The Memorial Golf Tournament Betting And Odds
Tuesday 02 June 2009 at 16:11
The Memorial Tournament is one of the premier events on the US PGA Tour and an event closely associated with one of the all-time greats of the game, Jack Nicklaus.
Tiger Out To Silence The Critics
This will be Tiger Woods' seventh outing on the PGA Tour since his return from injury and in that time he has recorded a victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and four other top ten finishes. Hardly the form of a man struggling with his game but some commentators have felt that his driving in particular has still to reach its optimum level.
That area of his game may not come under too much scrutiny on the wide open fairways at Muirfield Village so it's understandable to see the world's greatest player coming in for strong support. He is now a best priced 3/1 with Stan James and Bet365 to record his fourth victory in this event.
Englishman Casey The Man In Form
Paul Casey is currently playing the best golf of his life after recently recording the first win of his career in the USA at the Shell Houston Open he then crossed the Atlantic to take the premier event on the European Tour, The BMW PGA, and last week finished 5th at Colonial, just two shots away from making it into a play-off. The Englishman, now based in Arizona, looks to be playing the most consistent golf around at the moment and will be a threat to all this week. He is a best priced 16/1 with Coral and Boylesports.
Perry Looking for Fourtimer
Kenny Perry obviously looks forward to coming to this tournament every year as he has now won it three times – in 1991, 2003 and 2008 and he and Tiger Woods have now won this event more times than any other player. Perry is a 20/1 shot with Paddy Power this week to record win number four.
Muirfield Village Should Suit Villegas
The course at Muirfield Village rewards accurate iron play and one player near the top of the Greens In regulation stats who may be well suited to the conditions this week is Camillo Villegas.
Villegas is already becoming one of the stars of the game but a win in a tournament like this could propel him into the top four or five players in the world and he undoubtedly has the talent to be up there with the best. 40/1 with Ladbrokes looks a very interesting price and he should reward each-way support.
