Ascot Gold Cup Tips And Other Ladies Day Bets
Thursday 18 June 2009 at 11:26
The Ascot Gold Cup is Thursday's feature race for Ladies Day at Ascot and Yeats will be bidding four a four timer in the race. There is a great card today and here is a guide to the best bets.
Yeats Looks To Make It Four
The Ascot Gold Cup all revolves around Yeats, who has won the race for the last three years. He was below par on soft ground on his only appearance this season but soft ground has never suited and he will be trained to a peak for today. Consdiering he has been there and done it the 2/1 available with Bet365, Coral, Ladbrokes and Paddy Power looks a good price.
Interesting Forecast For The Feature Race
Geordieland has finished second to Yeats in this race for the last two years and he proved he is as good as ever when thrashing Patkai (who is 7/2 for this race with Ladbrokes) last time out. Geordieland is 10/3 with Ladbrokes to win the race but the best bet in the race could be to go for the same forecast that has happened the last two years, Yeats to beat Geordieland. They have both been there and done it and if you do the bet with Bet365 you will get a guaranteed price of around 8/1. If the forecast after the race pays bigger you will get that price. Not a bad deal.
Good Bets In A Tough Handicap
The big handicap of the day is the Britannia Stakes featuring thirty two unexposed three year olds running over a mile. One who looks very overpriced is Mutamaashi who has shown some very good form in his three career runs and should run into a place at least at 25/1 with Stan James, Ladbrokes and William Hill. The gamble of that race is Brief Encounter who is 7/1 with Sportingbet and William Hill, he too holds an excellent chance.
A Nice Priced Treble For Favourite Backers
Three of the remaining four races have relatively short priced favourites with great chances of scoring for the punters. Unbeaten Monsieur Chevalier is 6/4 with Bet365 and Paddy Power in the 2.30, Unbeaten Leocorno is 15/8 with Sportingbet and Ladbrokes in the 3.05 and the Dante second Freemantle is 11/8 with Blue Square and Paddy Power in the 4 55. A treble on all three pays best odds of over 16/1 with Sportingbet.
