Championship Relegation Betting Odds And Tips For Forthcoming Season
Tuesday 21 July 2009 at 12:14
Championship RelegationIt looks as though it is going to be tight at the bottom of the Championship this season and the Championship Relegation Betting Odds suggest there are at least five teams with a massive chance of suffering the dreaded drop.

Don't Underestimate Promoted Sides

The current favourites with the bookies to go down are Scunthorpe who were promoted through the League One Playoffs, they can be backed at 6/4 with Bet365, SkyBet and William Hill. Also up from League Two are Leicester and Peterborough but they are fancied by the bookies to do ok, they are 12/1 and 7/1 with VC Bet respectively to go down. League One is very difficult to get out of and promoted sides have a great record in the Championship so we'd be inclined to back Scunthorpe to stay up at.

The Likely Candidates For Relegation

Other sides expected to struggle include Blackpool who are 9/4 with VC Bet, Barnsley who are also 9/4 with VC Bet and Plymouth who are 5/2 with Bet365, Coral and William Hill. Doncaster are also under threat, they are rated 3/1 shots to go down with William Hill. It seems highly likely that those four sides will make up at least two of the relegated trio, possibly even all three. Single bets on each of them to go down should produce a profit, and even if only one of them went down the loss would be very small.

Newcastle To Go Down Again?

A bit of an outside shout to go down could be Newcastle who are still in disarray with the future of the club still up in the air. You can get 25/1 with Coral and VC Bet that Newcastle go down and that looks worth a small punt. Don't forget the likes of Leeds, Southampton and Norwich have all been relegated to League One.
