Champions League Betting Odds Have Barcelona And Real Madrid As Favourites After Big Name Signings
Monday 27 July 2009 at 11:55
A summer of big name signings has meant Real Madrid and Barcelona are favourites in the Champions League betting odds for the coming season. Lack of top signings in the Premiership means the Premiership clubs are up against it this season.
Barcelona And Real Madrid Could Be All Spanish Final
Most bookies make Barcelona the favourites to retain the Champions League, a feat that has never been achieved. Barca are expected to wrap up the signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic this week and that will only boost their chances so the odds of 5/1 with SkyBet look pretty fair. Real Madrid, armed with the signings of Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, should do very well and they are rated joint favourites in some places, they can be backed at 5/1 with Stan James, Paddy Power, SkyBet and William Hill.
Man Utd Rated A Better Bet Than Chelsea
The best of the Premiership sides are expected to be Man Utd and Chelsea. Man Utd are best priced 7/1 with Sportingbet whilst Chelsea are 7/1 with SkyBet, Ladbrokes and Blue Square. Man Utd could still prove a massive threat with an attack of Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov and they rate a slightly better bet than Chelsea.
England And Spain Dominate Betting
Liverpool are fifth favourites with the bookies at 10/1 with SkyBet and Sportingbet and only Inter Milan (12/1 Paddy Power) are shorter than Arsenal who are rated a 16/1 chance with Paddy Power and Ladbrokes. You can also bet on winning nationality, Boylesports have both England and Spain at 6/4 whilst Italy are the only others really considered at 4/1 with Boylesports.
