Champions League Draw Sees Real Madrid Face AC Milan And Barcelona Take On Inter Milan
Thursday 27 August 2009 at 18:30
The Champions League Group Stage Draw was made this evening and it looks as though there are going to be some very interesting matches. The highlight of which could be Barcelona against Inter Milan. The draw has also had an impact on the Champions League Betting Odds.
Real Madrid Will Face AC Milan
Big spending Real Madrid, who are now 5/1 with Stan James and SkyBet to win the Champions League this season, were always likely to be drawn against an English side but somehow Ronaldo dodged a trip back to England and they were drawn in AC Milan's group. AC Milan are 25/1 with SkyBet to win the Champions League.
Draw For English Sides
The English sides all have interesting draws. Chelsea have been drawn against FC Porto amongst other sides and can be backed to win the Champions League at 6/1 with Paddy Power and Ladbrokes whilst Liverpool's toughest game will be against Lyon, Liverpool are now 12/1 with SkyBet to win the competition. Man Utd and Arsenal seemed to get lucky, the second seed sides in their groups are CSKA Moscow and AZ Alkmaar respectively. Man Utd are 15/2 with Paddy Power to go one better this year whilst Arsenal are 11/1 with Paddy Power to finally fulfil their potential.
The Holders Get Tough Draw
Last year's winner Barcelona are priced up at 9/2 favourites with SkyBet and Boylesports to win the competition again, although it is worth noting that no side has ever won the tournament two years running. Their toughest match is likely to be against Inter Milan who are 14/1 with Betfred. Interestingly Samuel Etoo will play for Inter against former club Barcelona and Zlatan Ibrahimovic will do likewise for Barcelona.
