Forget opinion polls, the bookies know best and that isnt good news for Gordon Brown. The general election betting points to a comfortable conservative victory. MPS Expenses Row Increases Political Betting
The continuing furore over MPS Expenses from the public and the press has increased political betting with all the bookmakers. They are gearing up with a full range of betting opportunities to satisfy the electorate's anger with their chosen representatives.
General Election Month Betting
The General Election is expected to be held in May or June 2010, Ladbrokes have May 2010 at just 1/6 in their market that this will be Gordon Browns favoured month.
June is on offer at 6/1 with Paddy Power and looks value. Some bettors are convinced that Labour will go early and have taken a view at 12/1 with VC Bet that spring and March specifically will be the month we have our say.
Party Betting
The Conservatives are odds on to have the most seats and form the new government, they are a best price 1/7 with Betfair. Labour can be backed at 8/1 with Totesport and the outsiders predictably are the Lib Dems at 100/1 with Bet 365.
MPS Expenses
Markets are also available and proving very popular on specific constituency betting with Ladbrokes, Paddy Power and VC Bet. If the local MP has been embroiled in the expenses scandal then in many cases he or she could be in line to lose their seat and prices are on offer for this eventuality.
