Tuesday 24 November 2009 at 22:03
Next Portsmouth ManagerNext Portsmouth Manager Betting Odds have Avram Grant as the favourite to replace Paul Hart who was relieved of his managerial duties on Tuesday evening. It had looked as though Paul Hart had turned a corner with Portsmouth but after he was backed during the day to be the next Premiership manager sacked he was eventually given his marching orders.

Appointment Likely To Come From Within Pompey

Avram Grant was recently brought in to his become Director of Football at struggling Portsmouth, a role he had held before joining Chelsea, and the bookies now make him favourite to become the Next Portsmouth Manager, he is a 2/1 chance with Ladbrokes. He is only the narrow favourite though, Darren Ferguson, who left Peterborough two weeks ago, is a best price 5/2 with VC Bet. Interestingly Barry Fry suggested that Ferguson already had a new job lined up when he left Peterborough. One manager who has been very well backed already is Steve Coppell, VC Bet now offer just 5/1 (was 20/1 with SkyBet on Tuesday) but Ladbrokes hold the top price of 10/1.

All the usual suspects have been linked with the Pompey job, Alan Curbishley is unsurprisingly one of the favourites, he can be abcked at 4/1 with Ladbrokes whilst former England Managers have been touted, Kevin Keegan is 14/1 with SkyBet, Steve McClaren is 14/1 with VC Bet, Glenn Hoddle is 16/1 with SkyBet and Terry Venables is 20/1 with SkyBet.
