Oscars Betting Odds For Best Picture Have The Hurt Locker And Up In The Air As Favourites
Tuesday 22 December 2009 at 10:41
Oscars Best Picture Betting Odds currently have The Hurt Locker and Up In The Air as favourites before the nominees are even known. William Hill have waited until the Golden Globe nominations before pricing this up and it looks as though whatever wins at the Golden Globes will be well backed in this market.
Hurt Locker And Up In The Air Very Likely To Be Amongst Winners
The Hurt Locker, directed by Kathryn Bigelow, is the current favourite to win Best Picture at the Oscars, it can be backed at even money with William Hill. The Hurt Locker is one of the best war films in years but it is rather surprisingly favourite considering Up In The Air is favourite in the Golden Globes Betting. If you want to back Jason Reitman's Up In The Air you can get 7/4 with William Hill and that will shorten plenty if the film wins the same award at the Golden Globes.
Eight Other Films Struggling In This Category
It looks pretty much a two horse race at this stage as next best are joint third favourites Avatar and Precious, both of which can be backed at 9/1 with William Hill. Normally there would only be five options but as the nominees are not yet known for the Oscars William Hill have priced up ten films. Invictus is probably overpriced at 10/1 with William Hill as Clint Eastwood films are always very well received and Nine isn't a complete no hoper at 14/1 with William Hill.
