General Election Betting Odds Point To Possible Hung Parliament
Monday 01 March 2010 at 11:06
General Election Political betting is hotting up with neither party looking confident and a distinct possibility of a hung parliament. A hung parliament can be backed at 5/4 with Sky Bet and 6/4 with William Hill and VC Bet.
Conservatives Must Do Better
The Conservatives who looked to have an unassailable lead at the beginning of the year are looking very lightweight with David Cameron and Shadow Chancellor George Osborne not stepping up to the plate. The Tories are still odds on at 1.14 with Paddy Power but that price looks in danger as political commentators cast doubts over the competency of the duo. The television weekend interviews and the Conservatives Spring conference did nothing to shore up the price.
Gordon Brown Bullying?
Gordon Brown has been accused of bullying his cabinet colleagues and number 10 staff by author Andrew Rawnsley. You would have thought that this revelation would have fatally damaged the PM but Peter Mandleson and John Prescott waded in to defend Brown, and on the contrary many voters are of the opinion that tough leadership is exactly what is needed. Labour are a best price 11/2 with Ladbrokes from 7/1 to win most seats at the general election. Other firms are more cautious with SkyBet and William Hill at 4/1.
