TV Election Debates Mean General Election Meets The X Factor With Brown, Cameron And Clegg Facing The Cameras
Wednesday 03 March 2010 at 13:55
The three leaders of the main political parties have agreed to take part in a series of televised question and answer debates. These appearances will have a major impact on the outcome of the General Election and the odds on offer.
General Election Odds Favour Conservatives Still
Political pundits already think that Gordon Brown will suffer as the least charismatic and the oldest of the candidates. He is already 6/4 not to be PM at the end of 2010 with Paddy Power. David Cameron and the Conservatives had to be seen to be enthusiastic about the televised leaders debates but as the favourite to win most seats at around 1.14 with Bet 365 he has the most to lose. The major beneficiary will be Nick Clegg and the Liberals who are 200/1 with Ladbrokes, as long as he looks the part and doesn't trip up on any audience questions this price may well shorten.
A Beauty Contest
These shows are bound to receive very high ratings on the BBC, ITV and Sky as the electorate tune in to see which candidate performs best and which looks uncomfortable underneath the glare of the studio lights. Policy and manifesto promises may take a back seat and the debates may become more of a beauty contest. This general election is going to be a betting bonanza and to get involved click the highlighted bookmakers above.
