Big Fella Thanks New Favourite For Grand National 2010 Friday 12 March 2010 at 22:24 Last Saturday saw a shake-up in the Grand National 2010 betting when Big Fella Thanks won the Greatwood Gold Cup at Newbury.
The Big Fella Now Favourite
There was an element of surprise about Big Fella Thanks' victory at Newbury, due to the fact that the distance of the race was over two and a half miles – a distance his connections thought would be too short for him to show his best form. Nevertheless, the eight-year-old managed to keep tabs on the leaders and was left to battle out the finish with stablemate Pasco, ending up the winner by just over a length.
Nicholls In Powerful Aintree Position
Big Fella Thanks leapt from 16/1 to 10/1 with Bet365 and Boylesports after his win, taking over favouritism from another Nicholls' horse, Tricky Trickster.
Tricky Trickster remains at 12/1 with William Hill but is due to run in the Cheltenham Gold Cup next week where he is fancied to perform well. 12/1 could look an attractive price if, as a lot of tipsters are forecasting, he was to run into a place at Cheltenham.
