General Election Betting Odds Hugely Influenced By TV Debates
Monday 03 May 2010 at 14:37
The Conservatives and David Cameron who are now 1/16 to win most seats with Bet 365 and Paddy Power were prior to The General Election debates a shoe in to be the majority Government, but must be now regretting taking part in the debates and allowing Nick Clegg a platform for the Liberals.
Clegg Increases In Popularity
The Liberals surge in the polls and Clegg's popularity with floating voters now looks likely to result in the UK ending up with a hung parliament. The Liberals can be backed at 32.0 with Betfair to win most seats on Thursday and that is very unlikely, but they will win enough seats to scupper the Tories ambition to have a majority.
Betting Exchange Prediction
Betting exchange Betfair spokesman Mike Robb said: “Looking at the betting since the election was called it's abundantly clear that the TV debates have turned what was a seemingly inevitable Conservative victory into a complete toss-up. “If David Cameron fails to win on Thursday he will be sure to curse the decision to agree to the live debates. “With three full days of campaigning to go, however, punters are clearly yet to make up their minds as to how this turbulent race will end up.”
Hung Parliament Maybe The Bet
The hung Parliament odds meaning no party will get an overall majority are 8/11 with VC Bet and 5/6 with Stan James. If you think the Conservatives will get enough seats you can support that option at 1/1 with Bet 365. The Labour Party despite some rallying of support in the last few days are 12/1 with Boylesports to win most seats on Thursday. This is looking less and less likely and many well known Labour members of parliament will be losing their once safe seats.
