England World Cup Squad Betting Odds See Some Doubts Over Leighton Baines And Gareth Barry
Thursday 27 May 2010 at 16:03
Despite Leighton Baines playing the full ninety minutes in England's 3-1 win over Mexico some doubt has been raised about the Everton man making the Fabio Capello's final squad for South Africa 2010.
Baines Unimpressive Against Mexico
Rumours have surfaced that Capello was not impressed with Baines' performance against Mexico and the player has appeared to not help his cause by stating in the press that he is worried about being homesick if he does get selected. Consequently his price to make the squad has been on the drift but he is still available at 2/7 to make the final twenty-three man squad with Paddy Power.
Warnock To Make Late Push For Place
If Capello does decide to leave out Baines he will probably turn to Aston Villa's Stephen Warnock, who apparently has a chance of figuring at some point in England's last friendly on Sunday against Japan. Warnock is currently 3/1 to make the final squad with Skybet.
Doubts Continue About Villa Captain's Fitness
In midfield, the currently injured Gareth Barry looks a risky call to make the squad at a best priced 8/15 with Blue Square and Tom Huddlestone (3/1 Coral) and especially Scott Parker look decent odds to make the trip to South Africa. The latter in particular looks very interesting given he is 6/5 to make the squad with Paddy Power but a massive 7/2 with Skybet.
