England World Cup Squad Betting Odds Make Shaun Wright Phillips The Least Likely To Go
Tuesday 01 June 2010 at 10:13
Fabio Cappello names his 23 man England World Cup squad today and will be making seven Englishmen very unhappy who have been close to boarding the plane to South Africa.
Manchester City Squad Players
Man city winger Sean Wright Phillips looks most likely to miss out in the battle for a wide player it looks as though Cappello favours Cole, Lennon and Walcott hugging the touchline and Wright Phillips can be backed at value 5/1 with Paddy Power to make the final England Squad.
His Man City colleague Adam Johnson having recently impressed in friendlies can be backed at a skinny 8/15 with Paddy Power and he is the main benefactor of Sean Wright Phillips likely omission.
England World Cup Squad Possible
Other England players who are within touching distance of the 23 include London midfielders Scott Parker 9/2 with Paddy Power and Tom Huddlestone at 2/1 with Paddy Power.
Two defenders not going according to the bookies are Michael Dawson at 2/1 and Stephen Warnock who is 3/1 both with Paddy Power again.
Darren Bent at 9/2 with Paddy Power has had such a good season at the Stadium Of Light and needs to unseat Emile Heskey who for some reason Cappello continues to favour. Bent may not have done enough to be the fifth striker.
Final England Squad Player
The final spot in the 23 may go to Matthew Upson at 5/6 with Paddy Power he may not play in South Africa if Rio Ferdinand and John Terry stay fit, but the West Ham player will be needed as defensive cover with the possibility of more red cards being brandished by overzealous officials.
