Tuesday 29 June 2010 at 15:28
Some Doctor Who fans will be devastated and some Doctor Who fans delighted as bookmakers William Hill have cut the price of Matt Smith being dropped by the BBC as the Doctor from 6/1 to 9/2, following disappointing viewing figures for the final episode of his first series.
Morrissey To Replace Smith
William Hill rate David Morrissey as their 4/1 favourite to replace Matt but the biggest mover in the market has been James Corden who is currently presenting the ITV World Cup Live show he is 25/1 from 100/1 to be the next Doctor.
Female Doctor
Many punters now think the next Doctor whenever Matt Smith hangs up his Scarf will be female. William Hill have the odds at 8/1 that the BBC will plump for a female Doctor with Billie Piper a possible.
Doctor Who Actors
Towards the head of the Doctor Who betting are Chiwetel Ejiofor OBE at 5/1 who is best known for playing a revolutionary in the 2006 movie Children Of Men and, Patterson Joseph regularly seen on the Channel 4 comedy Peep Show. Established actor James Nesbitt is 12/1 and Trainspottings Robert Carlyle is 14/1 all with William Hill.
It remains to be seen whether Matt Smith will stay on as Doctor Who as he is on offer at 9/2 not to be the Doctor for a second series. To check all the Doctor Who odds visit William Hill.
